Northern Rivers Arts and Creative Industries Strategy

In 2008, Arts Northern Rivers engaged Brisbane based consultancy Positive Solutions to develop an Arts and Creative Industries Strategy for the region.

The strategy is a simple and practical plan to market, manage and finance the arts and creative industries sectors to a national audience.

The creative industries can be defined as those areas of professional practice that have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and which have a potential for wealth and job creation.
Examples include advertising, animation, architecture, design, digital media, fashion, film and video, interactive leisure software, music, the performing arts, photo media, publishing, software and computer games, television and radio, and the visual arts.

The Northern Rivers Arts and Creative Industries Strategy identifies regional priorities for the development of cultural infrastructure and creative industries, as well as opportunities for new market development for arts and creative industries product.

The final report includes analysis of ABS data, an audit of existing cultural infrastructure, a five-year vision statement, as well as strategies and implementation plans for the future.

Potential funding sources and business models are also identified.

This project is supported by:
