JAMBAMA ARTISTS OF CASINO COUNTRY ARTS SUPPORT PROJECT GRANT 2008

Jambama Artists of Casino at Anne Leon in Byron BayDuring July, as part of Arts Northern Rivers Country Arts Support Grants, Jambama Artists of Casino began a series of one day workshops in textile design as part of Arts Northern Rivers Country Arts Support Grants (CASP). Experienced local textile designer Anne Leon from Anne Leon Designs at Byron Bay worked with the artists teaching the use and application of natural dyes, exploring various dyeing techniques and how to develop creative product for a retail market. The second workshop was conducted by Jan Levy, who is also known for her work with the artists of the Cabbage Tree Island Art Shed and involved the use of synthetic dyes and shibori techniques. In the remaining workshops artists will screen print individual designs onto the dyed fabric.
