FAREWELL CATH FOGARTY

Photo of Cath FogartyAfter almost three years in the job of Regional Arts Project Officer, Cath Fogarty has decided to leave Arts Northern Rivers. She will spend a couple of months in the Great Victoria Desert in Western Australia before returning east to focus more time on her own ceramic practice.

Cath came to the job with over four years of experience in the world of regional arts, from her previous position at Outback Arts in Coonamble. She has worked hard to share her knowledge and assist many people and organizations in the region develop their arts projects. Her work as Regional Arts Project Officer has included managing two signature Arts Northern Rivers projects - the Youth Arts Roadshow and the Converge Touring Ceramic exhibition - which have both been highly successful. She has also been the editor of the Arts Northern Rivers newsletter, and has supported the establishment of a regional Indigenous artists group and a youth arts network.

Cath has been passionate about her work and will be missed by the board and staff of Arts Northern Rivers and the many people and organizations she has assisted. We wish her well in her future endeavours.

NORTHERN RIVERS ARTS LAW MARATHON

Approximately 350 people attended Northern Rivers Arts Law week - a series of free seminars about arts and the law, which were held from the Tweed to the Clarence last week, as a partnership between Arts Northern Rivers, Tweed Shire Council and the Arts Law Centre of Australia.

Arts Northern Rivers would like to thank the Arts Law Centre team for their accessible presentations about the complex and varied legal issues affecting people in all areas of arts practice and management.

Senior Solictor Alida Stanley, Solicitor Alison Patchett and Information Officer Blanch Lake put in a five day marathon of two and in some cases three seminars a day, including introductory seminars on copyright and legal issues in the arts, advice for Indigenous artists, and an accredited training session on entertainment law for local lawyers.

If you missed out on the seminars you can find more information, including some excellent fact sheets, on the Arts Law Centre website: www.artslaw.com.au
