PATHWAYS LAB 2025

PATHWAYS LAB is a performing arts professional development program designed to uplift and support emerging Blak creatives connected to Bundjalung Country. Now in its 2025 iteration, the program is a collaborative initiative between Arts Northern Rivers and MusicNSW, focusing on nurturing the next generation of First Nations talent in the music sector.

In 2025, PATHWAYS LAB will support three young emerging creatives to strengthen their artistic practice and explore new professional pathways within the arts. This year’s program centres on key industry skills including:

  • Music business
  • Songwriting development
  • Electronic press kit (EPK) creation
  • Strategies for promoting digital releases
  • Understanding Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) and contracts

Participants will take part in:

  • Four intensive workshops led by Indigenous professionals from the music industry
  • Three individual 1:1 mentoring sessions with First Nations performer, Blake Rhodes aka Mr. Rhodes
  • An opportunity to showcase their creative practice and musical interests

By working closely with MusicNSW, participants will gain direct access to vital industry networks and career-building opportunities—opening doors to parts of the music world they may not have previously explored.
