softwash launches with Full Foam Rinse and Spin

Artist collective PUBLIC PALACE is presenting softwash as part of Tweed Spaces, Arts Northern Rivers’ new pilot program exploring creative solutions to one of the region’s biggest challenges: the lack of accessible and affordable spaces for artists to make and share their work.

Hosted at the Tweed Regional Museum Learning Site on Minjungbal Country, softwash is an artist-led program of live and experimental art, workshops and a reading club.

The first event, SW_001 – Full Foam Rinse and Spin, takes place on Saturday 30 August 2025. A gathering that asks: what can be generated with the right conditions? Part art party, part live performance and made with care, this activation will temporarily transform the riverbank and parklands at Tweed Heads West into an afternoon of site-responsive art, experimental performance and community connection.

Audiences can jump aboard the BBQ boat and wade into the unexpected, with new work from Mark Cora, Sarah Poulgrain, Artist Boardriders Club, Adrienne Kenafake, Holiday Makers, Lewis and Julie McLaren.

This event is the first of three one-day-only celebrations of creative energy. softwash will return with Eating Together on Saturday 27 September 2025 and At the Water’s Edge on Saturday 8 November 2025.
