Expressions of Interest open for ANR's First Nations Committee

Arts Northern Rivers is establishing a First Nations Committee to guide and shape our First Nations program.

We are seeking representatives from across the region, with voices from Bundjalung, Yaegl and Gumbaynggirr communities. The Committee will provide cultural and strategic guidance to ensure our work reflects community priorities, supports self-determination and strengthens First Nations arts and cultural practice across the Northern Rivers.

Members will be appointed for a two-year term and will meet four times per year. Committee members will be remunerated for their time and are expected to attend meetings, contribute to discussions and help inform the direction of ANR’s First Nations program. Together, members will also determine the Terms of Reference, shaping how the Committee works and how it can best support First Nations artists, collectives, arts organisations and communities across the region.

Selection Process

Expressions of Interest will be reviewed by ANR's executive Director, ANR's First Nations Project Coordinator and two community peers. Appointments will be based on representation across Bundjalung, Yaegl and Gumbaynggirr communities, a balance of cultural knowledge, artistic practice and community leadership and capacity to contribute to the Committee’s work.

Timeline

1 July — Expressions of Interest open
20 July — EOI period closes
End of July — Review and selection process
Early August — Applicants notified
September — First Committee meeting
