Horizons Mentors Announced!

Horizons, the creative industry career development program has announced the fifteen mentors who will be working across all art forms with 75 young people across regional NSW.

We are thrilled to announce that three of the of the mentors who will supporting the next generation of creatives are from the Northern Rivers.

1. Aya Yves’ (Vendulka Wichta) style of blending introspective emotional lyrics with soaring soundscapes saw the singer-songwriter amass close to 2 million streams and showcase at the inaugural APRA AMCOS Queer Express Yourself.

2. Stephen Bird trained at The Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, Scotland, where he majored in painting. He works with both paint and clay and has also undertaken a number of site-specific sculpture commissions. Bird’s work is exhibited both nationally and internationally.

3. Karma Barnes is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice includes site-specific installations, painting and participatory practices. Emphasising collaboration with communities, her large-scale projects involve numerous individuals.

We are so excited to see how these mentors help to shape our up-and-coming young artists.
